Debate : Four students to the final

Four students were adjudged as the finalists in the  Comparative US- India Constitutional Law Debate which was conducted at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS). The final will be held in September 2019 at Chennai. Akin Babu IVth year student at Amal Jyoti college of Engineering, Kottayam ; Safa Navas IIIrd year student at the School of Legal Studies (CUSAT), Kochi ; Akbar Zahir, Vth year student at NUALS;  Kochi and  Levin Thomas IInd year student of Sacred Heart College at Thevera were the winners in the comepetition in which more than 90 students participated.

The debate rounds were judged by Moulik D Berkana, Dr. Sudhir Krishnaswamy , Adv.Suhrith Parthasarathi and Dr Giri Sankar . Moulik D. Berkana is the  Cultural Relations Officer at the U.S. Consulate General.  

The debate competition was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Dr. KC Sunny in the morning. In the valedictory function in the evening Prasanth Nair ( MD, Kerala Shipping & Inland Navigation Corporation ) was the chief guest who presided over the function. Registrar  Mahadev MG and Professor Mini S Thampi (NUALS) also took part in the function.

International Yoga Day Celebrated at NUALS

The Fifth International Yoga Day, under the aegis of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies was celebrated by the staffs and invitees with great enthusiasm at NUALS Campus on 21st June, 2019. The event was presided by Shri. Mahadev M. G, Registrar of the University. Dr. Asha G., Controller of Examinations and Shri. Arun Kumar S., Finance Officer, also participated in the event. Dr. Sujith S, Director (i/c) of the Centre for Sports Law, welcomed the gathering. An awareness programme on Yoga together with demonstration was carried out by Smt. Shaminas P, Yoga Instructor, NUALS, in which the whole staff ardently and eagerly performed yoga. The programme was coordinated by the Centre for Sports Law in conjunction with NSS Cell Unit, NUALS.

Mentoring System inaugurated
 
Mentoring is a good system and opportunity for students and students should be able to put forward their academic and non academic issues with the mentors, said Prof (Dr) Me'raj Ud Din Mir, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir while inaugurating the system in NUALS,Kalamassery. Dr. Mir also elaborated on the nature and standard of the judiciary, quoting many examples. He asked the students to make maximum use of the mentoring system.
 
Prof (Dr) KC Sunny presided over the funtion in which Dr.Anil R Nair, Prof. Nighat Basu , Dean of Education,Central University of Kashmir Dr. GC Gopalapillai, Dr Mini S. also took part in the inaugural funtion. 
 
NUALS mentoring scheme will have one teacher for eight students each. Students admitted to NUALS will get the help of mentors from the first year till the end of the course. Mentor teacher will enable the students to overcome their problems and challenges they face in life.  Its a part of value based education being introduced in NUALS.
